  • Remove master cylinder as outlined under .
  • Remove charcoal vapor canister as required.
  • Remove brake booster vacuum hose.
  • Remove pedal return spring, clip, clevis pin and clevis locknut, Fig. .
  • Remove brake booster nuts. Pull out booster and gasket.
Installation
  • Adjust length of booster pushrod as follows:
    • Install gasket on master cylinder.
    • Install brake booster pushrod gauge tool No. 09737-00010, or equivalent, on gasket.
    • Lower pin until its tip slightly touches the piston.
    • Turn gauge tool upside down and set it on boos...

  • Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
  • Disconnect brake hose from brake tube and caliper using a suitable tool.
  • Remove caliper attaching bolts, then the caliper, Fig. .
  • Remove anti-squeal shim(s), brake pad, anti-rattle spring, pad guide plate and pad support plate.
  • Reverse procedure to install, then bleed brake system.
Overhaul
  • Remove sliding bushing and boot.

  • Remove master cylinder boot.
  • Remove setscrew and reservoir tank, then the cap and strainer from reservoir.
  • Remove two grommets and place cylinder in vise.
  • Push piston in and remove stopper bolt, Fig. .
  • Push pistons in and remove snap ring, then No. 1 piston carefully by hand.
  • Place cylinder on edges of two wooden blocks and tap on cylinder until No. 2 piston comes out.
