Vehicle: 2006 Pontiac GTO 6.0 V8 GAS
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Disconnect intake Air Temperature (IAT) and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor wiring harness connectors.
- Loosen air intake duct to throttle body and MAF sensor to air cleaner upper body clamps.
- Remove duct with IAT and MAF sensors installed.
- Install suitable breaker bar with hex-head socket to drive belt tensioner bolt.
- Relieve tension on belt by rotating drive belt tensioner clockwise.
- Remove belt from pulleys and drive belt tensioner.
- Slowly release tension on drive belt tensioner, then remove breaker bar and socket from drive belt tensioner bolt.

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Raise and suitably support vehicle.
- Remove lefthand catalytic converter.
- Remove mounting bolts and lower starter motor.
- Remove mounting nuts, then wiring harness starter lead and washer.
- Remove mounting nut and positive cable nut at starter solenoid.
- Remove starter motor.
