- Disconnect and isolate battery ground cable.
- Wait at least two minutes after disconnecting battery ground cable before doing any further work on vehicle. The air bag system is designed to retain enough voltage to deploy air bags for a short time even after battery has been disconnected.

- Recover refrigerant as outlined under .
- Loosen accumulator retaining band screw, then disconnect accumulator inlet tube from evaporator outlet tube.
- Reposition accumulator for access to blower motor harness connector.
- On all models, disconnect blower motor electrical connector.
- Remove three screws attaching blower motor to heater and A/C housing.
- Rotate and tilt blower motor and wheel assembly as needed to remove from housing.

- Using a trim stick, or suitable flat-bladed tool, pry along edges of right and left door sill trim to release snap clip retainers, Fig. .
- Disengage ends of sill trim from cowl side trim at front and B-pillar trim (standard cab) or quarter panel trim (club cab) at rear, then remove sill trim from sill.
- Using a trim stick, or suitable flat-bladed tool, pry left and right cowl side trim to release snap ring retainer, then remove trim from pillar.

- Remove two screws securing resistor to housing, then the resistor.
- Reverse procedure to install.

- Remove cowl plenum cover, reach through plenum access hole and remove two blower motor resistor screws.
- Pull blower motor resistor wire harness out of plenum, then disconnect wire from resistor.
- Reverse procedure to install.
