Perform bleeding procedure first upon left rear wheel, then on right rear, left front and, finally, right front.

  • Ensure ignition switch is in Off position, then depressurize hydraulic bladder accumulator as described under "Precautions."
  • Connect a clear plastic hose to bleed screw on brake caliper or wheel cylinder, then place other end of hose in a clear glass container partially filled with clean brake fluid.
  • Pump brake pedal repeatedly with approximately five seconds between pedal strokes, then depress and hold pedal.

These models use a proportioning valve and pressure differential switch, or a combination valve. When a premature rear wheel skid is obtained during braking, it may be an indication that fluid pressure to rear brakes is above a desired output and/or a malfunction has occurred within the valve. At this time, the valve unit should be tested as follows:

  • Remove actuator assembly adjustment nut, Fig. , then disconnect assembly from valve lever and remove.

  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
  • Remove two caliper-to-knuckle attaching bolts, then remove caliper by sliding away from adapter and lifting off rotor, Fig. . Support caliper firmly to prevent weight of caliper from damaging flexible hose.
  • Remove outboard brake pad from caliper adapter.
  • Remove disc brake rotor.
  • Remove inboard brake shoe assembly by sliding it out along bottom adapter abutment until brake shoe assembly loosens from anti-rattle clip.
