DESCRIPTION
The primary and secondary coolant fans are turned on and off by the ECM based on inputs from A/C head pressure, engine coolant temperature, vehicle speed and A/C request signals.
The primary cooling fan is turned On when vehicle speed is below 35 mph, diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) 14 or 15 are present, coolant temperature is greater than 226°F or high A/C pressure is indicated.

- With engine running and brake pedal in rest position, measure distance between face of pedal and floor mat.
- If distance is not 5.79-6.18 inches, adjust pedal height as follows:
- Remove left lower instrument panel trim section and air duct.
- Loosen stop lamp switch sufficiently to gain clearance for pedal adjustment.
- Loosen locknut and rotate pedal pushrod as needed to obtain specified pedal height, then tighten locknut.

- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Install drive axle seal protector J-34754 or equivalent on outer joint.
- Insert a screwdriver or drift into caliper and rotor to prevent rotor from turning and remove hub nut and washer.
- Remove lower ball joint cotter pin and nut, then loosen joint using a suitable puller or tool No. J-29330. If right axle is being removed, turn wheel to left, if left axle is being removed, turn wheel to right.
