FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR Audi AUTOMOBILES

Do not smoke or allow an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel system related components. The highly flammable vapor mixtures may ignite, resulting in serious personal injury.

Obtain the vehicle owner's radio theft protection code, then disconnect the battery ground cable. Briefly open fuel filler cap to relieve system pressure, then close it again.

After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal driveability symptoms may occur. The vehicle may need to be driven while it relearns its adaptive strategy.

  • Raise and support vehicle, then remove washer and wheel.
  • Remove axle shaft flange, nut from link rod, and control arm to stabilizer bar to subframe mounting bolts.
  • Push control arm downward, then press axle shaft out of hub using a suitable puller.
  • Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    • Ensure splines on stub axle and wheel hub are free of oil, grease and old locking compound.

The nickel plated valve insert must be replaced every tire change. Release air from the tire by removing the nickel plated valve insert. The TPMS sensor can be reused, but a damaged sensor must be replaced.
