- Raise and support vehicle and remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove caliper slide pin on main pin side, Fig. . Do not remove caliper slide pin on the subpin side unless necessary.
- Lift up caliper and suspend out of way so that brake hose is not stretched.
- Remove pads, anti-squeal shims and the pad support plate.
- Reverse procedure to install, torquing caliper slide pin to 65 ft. lbs.
CALIPER, REPLACE
- Raise and support vehicle and remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Disconnect brake hose from brake tube and caliper.
- Remove two caliper slide pins and the caliper.

- Obtain the vehicle owners radio theft protection code prior to disconnecting the battery ground cable, if equipped.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
- Remove the fuel fill cap to release fuel tank pressure.
- Place a shop towel over the union bolt at top of fuel filter. Slowly loosen the union bolt allowing fuel pressure to bleed down.
- Whenever the union bolt is loosened to relieve fuel system pressure, always replace the bolt gasket.

- Remove wheel lug nuts.
- Remove cotter pin, lock nut cap and lock nut from drive shaft.
- Remove O-rings from tail pipe.
- Suspend tail pipe with a suitable wire.
- Remove drive shaft set nuts.
- Using a suitable jack , raise rear axle carrier until drive shaft is horizontal.
- Disconnect drive shaft from differential and remove it.
- Remove inboard joint boot clamps.
- Place matchmarks on inboard joint tulip and shaft.
- Do not punch marks into joint.
