DRIVELINE, U-JOINT & CV AXLES REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2008 Mitsubishi Raider AUTOMOBILES
Includes CV axle, universal joint, and driveline replacement, for domestic and imported 2008 Mitsubishi Raider cars and light trucks from 1990+.
DRIVESHAFT, Replace -> Front -> Rear
Vehicle: 2008 Mitsubishi Raider LS 3.7 V6 GAS
Front
- Place transmission in neutral, and raise and support vehicle.
- On models equipped with skid plate, remove bolts securing skid plate.
- On all models, mark front companion flange to front driveline.
- Mark transfer case companion flange to front driveline.
- Remove exhaust crossover bolts from exhaust manifolds and lower crossover.
- Remove driveline shaft flange bolts from pinion flange.
- Remove driveline bolts from shaft joint.
- Slide driveline off transfer case and remove shaft. Failure to observe instructions may result in a driveline vibration.

Do not strike ABS rotors or outer race of driveshaft against other parts when removing or installing driveshaft. Use care not to strike pole piece at tip of front wheel speed sensor with tools when servicing vehicle.
- Place vehicle in neutral.
- Raise and support vehicle and support it with safety stands in proper locations.
- On models equipped with skid plate, remove skid plate bolts.
- On all models, remove wheel nuts and front wheels.

This procedure describes a driveline equipped with cardan joint in tube yoke. Driveline equipped wit companion/slip yoke repeat steps to remove remaining cardan joint.
- Place driveshaft on suitable workbench. Do not damage driveshaft when servicing on workbench. Ensure driveline and components are reference marked to prevent driveline imbalance.
- Tap outside of bearing cap with a drift to loosen snap ring.
- Remove snap rings from both sides of yoke using suitable tool.
- Position yoke with grease fitting pointing up, if equipped.
