ABS Automated Bleed
In most circumstances a base brake bleed is all that is required for most component replacements (such as wheel cylinders, calipers, brake tubes, and master cylinder) except for BPMV replacement.
The following automated ABS bleed procedure is required when one of the following occur: Manual bleeding at the wheel cylinders does not achieve the desired pedal height or feel. Brake Pressure Modulator Valve replacement (BPMV). Extreme loss of brake fluid has occurred. Air ingestion is suspected.

Front
- Siphon brake fluid out of master cylinder until fluid level is approximately 1/3 full, this will prevent fluid overflow when caliper piston is pushed back into its bore.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheels.
- Push piston back into its bore using suitable C-clamp, Fig. .
- Remove brake caliper hose bolt, then two metal gaskets from brake caliper bolt.
- Remove two caliper mounting bolts and lift caliper off of rotor.

- If vehicle is equipped with power brakes, remove vacuum reserve by applying brakes several times with engine off.
- Fill master cylinder reservoirs with suitable brake fluid. Ensure to always keep master cylinder reservoirs at least half full during entire bleeding procedure.
- If master cylinder is suspected to have air in bore, it must be bled first. To bleed master cylinder, proceed as follows:
- Disconnect forward brake pipe connection at master cylinder.

- Remove coolant reservoir, then relieve fuel system pressure as follows:
- Loosen fuel filler cap to discharge tank pressure.
- Connect fuel pressure gauge tool No. J-34730-1A, or equivalent, to fuel pressure connection. Wrap shop towel around connection while connecting fuel pressure gauge in order to avoid fuel spillage.
- Install bleed hose into an approved container and open valve in order to bleed fuel system pressure.
