Service Brakes

  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Remove access slot cover at rear of brake support plate.
  • Rotate adjuster star wheel while turning wheel and tire until brake locks using a suitable brake adjustment tool.
  • Insert a suitable thin tool through adjustment hole and disengage automatic adjuster arm from star wheel, then back off screw approximately one turn.
  • Install access slot cover, then lower vehicle and inspect for proper brake operation.
  • Drive vehicle in Reverse, make 10-15 firm brake applications with one forward stop between each reverse application to equalize adjustment.

Disassemble
  • Remove caliper from adapter and rotor as outlined under . Do not disconnect brake hose from caliper. Support caliper at all times to prevent brake hose damage.

Brake System Bleed

ABS system bleeding requires conventional bleeding methods plus use of the scan tool. The procedure involves performing a base brake bleeding, followed by use of the scan tool to cycle and bleed the HCU pump and solenoids. A second base brake bleeding procedure is then required to remove any air remaining in the system.
