Altima
These models use an engine coolant temperature sensor, vehicle speed sensor, A/C "ON" signal and A/C pressure signal to input signals to the ECM. The module uses these input signals to open and close the two coolant fan relays.
With vehicle speed below 12 mph, A/C switch off, A/C triple-pressure switch off and engine coolant temperature below 203°F, both relays will remain open and cooling fans should be off. With engine temperature between 203-221°F, relay No. 1 should close and low speed coolant fan should come on. With engine temperature 221°F or more, both r...

R-134a systems require the use of special service equipment designed specifically for R-134a systems. R-12 servicing equipment cannot be used on R-134a systems.
R-12 recovery stations cannot be used on R-134a systems. A separate recovery station must be used on R-134a systems. The refrigerants are not compatible and will contaminate the R-12 recovery station.
The use of refrigerant recovery and recycling stations allows the recovery and reuse of refrigerant after contaminants and moisture have been removed.
When using a recovery or recycling station...

System Operation
The automatic temperature control system used on this vehicle incorporates an air mix door control. The air mix door control detects ambient temperature, in-vehicle temperature, amount of direct sunlight and entrance temperature at the heater unit by using various sensors. The heater unit controls the air mix door automatically so that in-vehicle temperature reaches the temperature setting desired.
Fan speed is automatically controlled according to the opening angle of the air mix door. The outlet door and intake door are controlled by outlet tempera...
