- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Unplug field circuit from alternator.
- Remove B+ terminal nut and wire.
- Loosen top mounting ear bolt.
- Loosen pivot bolt, but do not remove.
- Loosen adjusting bolt on idler to allow removal of alternator drive belt.
- Remove pivot bolt. Do not drop spacer.
- Remove top mounting ear bolt.

- Disconnect battery ground cable from remote negative terminal on shock tower.
- Remove remote battery cable at shock tower.
- Remove air cleaner resonator.
- Remove three Transmission Control Module (TCM) mounting screws.
- Move TCM to provide access to top starter mounting bolt.
- Do not disconnect TCM wiring.
- Remove top bolt attaching starter to transmission housing wire terminal connection.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove battery positive cable nut from starter and remove cable.
