  • Clean all dirt from brake master cylinder filler cap. During bleeding operation do not allow brake master cylinder to run dry.
  • Fill brake master cylinder with specified brake fluid.
  • If brake master cylinder is known or suspected to contain air it must be bled before individual wheels.
  • Remove bleeder screw cover from appropriate bleeder screw.
  • Attach a bleeder hose to bleeder screw. Bleeder hose has to fit snugly around bleeder screw.
  • Submerge free end of bleeder hose in a container partially filled with brake fluid.

  • Remove rear disc brake caliper assembly as described under " Caliper Service." Do not disconnect flexible hose unless caliper requires service. Support caliper with wire or tie strap so flexible hose is not stretched or twisted.
  • Remove rear disc support bracket to wheel knuckle bolts, then the rear disc support bracket and brake shoes and linings.
  • Remove two nuts, then the rotor from rear hub.

Power Brake Booster

The power brake booster reduces the effort required to push the brake pedal and apply the brakes. Engine vacuum allows for this power assist.

A vacuum booster hose from the engine contains a vacuum booster hose check valve. When the engine is shut off, the valve closes, trapping engine vacuum within the power brake booster. This reserve vacuum allows for several assisted brake applications with the engine off.
