- Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect park brake cable at equalizer.
- Remove tire and wheel assemblies, then install two wheel nuts to retain rotor.
- If caliper is to be overhauled, remove brake hose fitting bolt/screw, brake hose and brake hose gasket.
- If return spring coils are open, remove park brake lever return spring.
- Disconnect park brake cable from park brake actuator lever and park brake cable bracket.
- If necessary, remove vibration dampener nut and vibration dampener from park brake cable bracket.

Removal
- Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove brake drum. If brake lining is dragging on brake drum, back off brake adjustment by rotating adjustment screw. If brake drum is rusted or corroded to axle flange and cannot be removed, lightly tap axle flange to drum mounting surface with a suitable hammer.
- Using brake spring pliers, or equivalent, unhook primary and secondary return springs, Figs. and . Observe location of brake parts being removed to aid during installation.
