- Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove two caliper mounting bolts, then remove caliper. Do not allow caliper to hang by brake hose.
- Remove inner pad, then remove outer pad and anti-squeal shim(s), Fig. .
- Remove anti-rattle spring and pad guide plate.
- Remove pad support plate and anti-squeal shim(s).
- Reverse procedure to install.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF.
- Connect terminals E1 and Ts of data link connector (DLC1).
- Start engine and ensure ABS warning light blinks.
- Drive vehicle straight ahead at least 28 mph for several seconds, then stop vehicle.
- Connect terminals E1 and Tc of DLC1.
- Read number of blinks of ABS warning light to obtain diagnostic trouble codes.
- After performing check, remove DLC1 terminal connections, then turn ignition off.

- On MR2, remove luggage compartment trim cover by removing two clips after disengaging inner part of clip.
- On all models, remove brake fluid with syringe.
- On RAV4, remove air cleaner cover with air cleaner hose.
- On all models, label and disconnect brake lines using line wrench 09751-36011, 09023-00100, or equivalent. Then cap brake lines from master cylinder.
