- Remove drive belt from pulley. Disconnect field coil wiring.
- Remove mounting bolts and reposition compressor as needed to gain access to clutch. Compressor need not be completely removed, and the system does not have to be discharged, to remove clutch assembly.
- Use a suitable spanner wrench to hold clutch hub plate and remove shaft nut and lock washer, Fig. .
- Install front plate puller C-4771 or equivalent and remove front plate, key and shims.

Testing the refrigerant system for leaks is one of the most important phases of troubleshooting.
