  • Disconnect brake warning lamp electrical connector from master cylinder.
  • Disconnect hydraulic lines from master cylinder, then remove master cylinder to brake booster nuts and master cylinder.
  • Before installing cylinder, check distance from outer end of master cylinder pushrod to front face of booster assembly using suitable gauge block, Fig. . Pushrod length should be .980-.995 inch. Turn pushrod adjusting screw inward or outward until specified length is achieved.

  • Disconnect battery ground cable.
  • Remove sufficient brake fluid from master cylinder reservoir.
  • Raise and support vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
  • Remove disc brake caliper as outlined in "Caliper Service".
  • On 2WD models, remove hub grease cap, cotter pin, nut retainer, hub spindle nut and front outer wheel bearing washer, then remove outer wheel bearing.
  • On all models, remove front disc brake hub and rotor.
  • On 4WD models, remove hub as outlined under "Halfshaft, Replace," in the "All Wheel Drive System" section.

With ignition key in Off position, ground data link connector pin G to initiate Quick Test. Turn key On and wait approximately 3.0 seconds. The ABS diagnostic trouble codes will begin to flash on the ABS warning lamp.

The first diagnostic trouble code will be the start Diagnostic Trouble Code 12, and will repeat 3 times before flashing the next diagnostic trouble code. After all diagnostic trouble codes have been retrieved, the diagnostic trouble codes will repeat beginning with the start diagnostic trouble code. If no diagnostic trouble code...
