DESCRIPTION
EXCEPT REGAL w/3800 (VIN L) ENGINE
Each coolant fan is turned on and off by separate coolant fan relays.
The primary coolant fan relay coil is grounded through the ECM when vehicle speed is less than a speed determined by the ECM and engine coolant reaches 227°F with A/C off and 223°F with A/C on. The contacts close and voltage is applied through the primary coolant fan relay to the primary coolant fan. The primary coolant fan runs until the ignition switch is turned off, or coolant temperature decreases to 220°F with A/C off...

Vehicle: 1992 Pontiac Grand AM SE 2.3 L4 GAS
An important fact most car owners ignore is that the A/C system must be used periodically. Car manufacturers caution that when the air conditioner is not used regularly, particularly during cold months, it should be turned on for a few minutes once every two or three weeks while the engine is running. This keeps the system in good operating condition.
Checking out the system for the effects of disuse before the onset of summer is one of the most important asp...

Vehicle: 1992 Pontiac Grand AM GT 3.3 V6 GAS
DESCRIPTION
Voltage is available at all times through fusible link A to coolant fan relay contacts. With ignition switch in Run position, voltage is available through fuse 9 to coolant fan relay coil. When the ECM receives a signal from coolant temperature sensor, ground is provided for coolant fan relay by module's coolant fan terminal. Voltage is applied through fuse 9 to coolant fan relay coil. When ECM grounds the circuit, coolant fan relay contacts close and voltage is applied through coolant fan relay contacts to coolant fan and the fan runs.
