DRIVESHAFT, Replace
Vehicle: 1991 Audi 100 Quattro 2.3 L5 GAS
Driveshaft work must be performed with vehicle on a suitable dual support hoist.
- Remove catalytic converter, then tie exhaust pipe to left side of vehicle with wire.
- Remove support, if required, then loosen propeller shaft bolts at transmission, differential and center support.
- Ensure white dot on rear propeller shaft flange aligned with a black dot on differential flange. If not, scribe mark on propeller shaft and differential flanges prior to disassembly.
- Install a suitable alignment tool on driveshaft and tighten plastic nuts.

CV AXLE SHAFT, Replace
Vehicle: 1991 Audi 100 Quattro 2.3 L5 GAS
- Remove wheel cover and remove nut securing axle shaft in hub.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheels. Remove shield in right side driveshaft.
- Remove driveshaft flange to transmission securing screws, then pull speed sensor slightly out of housing.
- On automatic transmission models, remove stabilizer bar clamps and disconnect ball joint from hub.
- On all models, press axle shaft from hub using a suitable hub puller.
