FRONT SENSORS

  • Disconnect front speed sensor located in engine compartment, then remove bolts which secure harness to bracket. Do not to damage pole piece located at tip of sensor during removal.
  • Remove disc brake caliper and rotor from housing.
  • Remove front driveshaft, housing, then hub assembly.
  • Remove tone wheel while removing hub from housing and assembly. Refer to Fig. .
  • Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE TO ABS CONTROL UNIT

  • Turn ignition switch off.
  • Disconnect connector from ABS control unit.
  • Disassemble connector as follows:
    • Pushing tab Fig. , then disconnect connector.
    • Remove screws from connector, move boot toward harness, and slide cover in direction as shown in Fig. .
  • Turn ignition On, measure voltage between connector P12 terminal 1 and ground on except SVX models or between connector R7 terminal 1 and ground on SVX models, readings should be 10 and 12 volts.
  • Start engine, check input voltage of ABS control unit to alternator.

  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Remove front wheels.
  • Disconnect brake hose from caliper. Plug hose to prevent fluid leakage.
  • On all except Justy, Legacy and SVX, remove outer parking brake cable clip and disconnect cable.
  • On all except Justy with 12 inch wheels, remove caliper lockpin, rotate caliper on guide pin, then remove caliper.

  • Disconnect brake fluid level indicator connector, if equipped.
  • Remove master cylinder assembly.
  • Disconnect vacuum hose from brake booster.
  • Working from inside the passenger compartment, remove snap pin and operating rod clevis pin from brake pedal assembly.
  • Remove brake booster retaining nuts, then brake booster from vehicle.
  • Reverse procedure to install. Torque brake booster retaining nuts to 9-17 ft. lbs.
