- Connect scan tool MB991502, or equivalently programmed scan tool, to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under lefthand side of instrument panel, Fig. .
- Turn ignition switch to On position.
- Access Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) following tool manufacturer's instructions.
Less Scan Tool
- Ground Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 1 using Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) check harness tool or equivalent,Fig. .
- Turn ignition switch to On position.
- ABS warning lamp will begin flash any stored DTCs, Fig. .

- Remove center floor console, then lower parking brake handle.
- Position lever to its fully released position.
- Tighten adjusting nut on parking brake lever output cable until approximately 1.02 inch of thread is out past edge of adjusting nut.
- Actuate parking brake lever to its fully applied position (22 clicks) one time, then reposition lever to its fully released position.

Stop Lamp Switch
- Release stop lamp switch from bracket by rotating it 30° counterclockwise.
- Disconnect stop lamp switch wiring harness connector.
- Pull outward on stop lamp switch plunger until fully extended.
- Depress brake pedal, holding down in place.
- Install stop lamp switch onto bracket by aligning index key on switch with slot at top of square hole.
- Rotate switch 30° clockwise to lock switch into bracket, Fig. .
- Connect wiring harness connector to stop lamp switch.
- Pull back on brake pedal until pedal stops moving to allow switch plunger to ratchet to correct position.

- Remove caliper from brake rotor and brake pads from caliper as outlined in "Brake Pad Service."
- Disconnect brake hose at brake caliper, then cap brake line.
- Reverse procedure to install.
Overhaul
- Remove caliper assembly as outlined under "Replacement."
- Remove lockpin, bushing, caliper support, guide pin and lockpin boots as outlined in Figs. and .
- Remove boot ring using a suitable flat blade screwdriver.
- Position a shop towel in caliper body, then apply compressed air through brake hose fitting hole to remove piston and dust boot. Apply air gently.
