Vehicle: 2008 BMW 535XI 3.0 L6 GAS

Disconnect battery ground cable.
Loosen clamp and detach air intake hose then unfasten hose clips.
Release air cleaner housing with mass air flow sensor.
Release quick-connect fastener on boost pressure pipe in direction of arrow.
Remove air hose.
Rotate or lift belt tensioner arm clockwise, using a suitable tool to relieve tension from drive belt.
Remove drive belt.
Remove bolt securing refrigerant line.
Remove bolts securing A/C bracket holder.
Remove bolt securing refrigerant. Discharge refrigerant using suitable A/C recharging and recovery station.

STARTER & ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES FOR 2008 BMW 535XI AUTOMOBILES

Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove tension strut cover by removing rivet retainers. Pry upwards using suitable tool to remove strut cover taking care not to damage retaining lug.
Remove tension strut panels by removing rivet retainers and lifting up on panels.
Remove bolts securing tension strut then remove struts. Bolts must be replaced once removed because surface coating has been modified.
Loosen clamp and disconnect connector from air intake hose.
Disconnect connector and remove bolts from intake filter housing.
