With the timing belt removed, avoid turning the camshaft or crankshaft. If movement is required, exercise extreme caution to avoid valve damage caused by piston contact.
- On turbocharged models, remove righthand engine cover and cover over righthand headlamp.
- On all models, mark belt running direction, release tension on serpentine drive belt by turning tensioner pulley clockwise, Fig. , then remove drive belt.
- Remove upper timing belt cover.
