  • Switch ignition off.
  • Operate brake pedal approximately 30 times. Pedal travel will increase slightly and reduced resistance will be felt as pressure decreases.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, press brake pedal four more times to ensure all pressure is evacuated from system.
  • Position cloth under accumulator to catch any fluid spillage.
  • Remove accumulator and discard O-ring.
  • Reverse procedure to install.

  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Remove front or rear wheels as required.
  • Remove bolt from lower guide pin of each caliper.
  • Swivel caliper upwards and remove brake pads.
  • Using piston clamp tool No. LRT-70-500, press caliper pistons fully into bores.
  • Clean faces of pistons and pad locations in caliper.
  • Inspect condition of guide pin boots, replace if damaged.
  • Reverse procedure to install.

Discovery

When the ignition is switched to on, the SLABS ECU performs an inspection of the brake related warning lamps as part of the power up procedure. The warning lamps are illuminated for approximately 3 seconds and then turn off. If a fault warning lamp remains illuminated after the lamp inspection, a fault has been detected and repair action is required. The warning lamp will turn off when vehicle speed exceeds 5 mph.
