- Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel assemblies.
- If brake pads are to be used again, mark installed positions for installation reference.
- Remove caliper housing to carrier mounting bolts, then the caliper housing, Fig. .
- Remove brake pads from carrier.
- Extract part of brake fluid from reservoir using a suitable bleeder bottle, then install piston using installation tool No. 3272, or equivalent.
- Install brake pads, then the caliper housing and tighten to specifications.
- Install wheel assemblies and lower vehicle.

Hydraulic Booster/Servo
- Remove master cylinder as outlined under "Hydraulic Brake System."
- Disconnect hydraulic lines from booster/servo.
- Remove brake booster/servo attaching bolts.
- Disconnect booster pushrod from brake pedal.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Adjust pushrod length to 9.04-9.08 inches from face of booster/servo unit to center of clevis hole.
- Torque booster mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs.
Vacuum Booster

- Remove master cylinder as outlined under "Hydraulic Brake System" section.
- Disconnect hydraulic lines from brake servo unit.

On these models there is no mechanical brake pressure regulator. Specially matched control module software controls brake pressure regulation.
A6 & S6
Brake pressure regulator is mounted on body (lefthand rear), and operated by a spring attached to the rear axle. Prior to inspection, ensure system is properly bled and filled.
- Firmly depress brake pedal once, with vehicle on ground.

To bleed brake system, use a catch bottle with a transparent hose attached so brake fluid can be inspected for air bubbles.
