BRAKE SERVICE PROCEDURES FOR 1996 Jaguar XJ6 AUTOMOBILES
Includes anti-lock brakes, disc, drum, power and hydraulic brake services diagnostics and procedures for domestic and imported 1996 Jaguar XJ6 cars and light trucks from 1990+.
Hydraulic Brake Systems -> Description
Vehicle: 1996 Jaguar XJ6 4.0 L6 GAS
The hydraulic brake system consists of the following main components: Pedal box, servo unit, tandem master cylinder, remote fluid reservoir, four disc brake assemblies and two parking brake calipers.
The above components provide the vehicle with a dual braking system in which front and rear caliper assemblies are totally independent of each other. In the event of a brake line failure or partial loss of fluid, one pair of brake calipers will remain operative.
When the brake pedal is depressed, the servo unit, which is attached to the master cylinder, transfers increased pedal pressure ...

Power Brake Units -> Description
Vehicle: 1996 Jaguar XJ6 4.0 L6 GAS
The hydraulic booster increases pedal force by means of hydraulic pressure. The dynamic circuit of the rear brakes is supplied from the hydraulic accumulator via a control valve in the booster.
The pressure in the booster and rear brake circuit is proportional to the pedal force. The booster is composed of an actuating piston (1) and a booster piston (2), Fig. .
The movable , mechanical connection between the control valve (3) and two pistons is made by means of a scissor-lever mechanism (4), Fig. .
The control valve (3) opens the pressureless booster chamber to the reservoir (9). Sim...

BRAKE SERVICE PROCEDURES FOR 1996 Jaguar XJ6 AUTOMOBILES
Includes anti-lock brakes, disc, drum, power and hydraulic brake services diagnostics and procedures for domestic and imported 1996 Jaguar XJ6 cars and light trucks from 1990+.
Anti-lock Brakes -> Description
Vehicle: 1996 Jaguar XJ6 4.0 L6 GAS
The anti-lock braking system eliminates wheel lock by controlling hydraulic pressure applied to the brake calipers. This system, which is assisted by the power hydraulic system, also reduces tire wear and improves vehicle stability during severe braking conditions. Modulation of hydraulic pressure is achieved by a modulator containing three solenoid actuated valves; one valve in each hydraulic line to front calipers and one in a common hydraulic ...

Anti-lock Brakes -> System Service -> ABS Control Module -> Accumulator -> Actuation Unit -> Brake System Bleed -> Component Replacement -> Fluid Intake Hose -> Motor & Pump Unit -> XJS, XJ6 & XJ12 & 1995-97 XJR
Vehicle: 1996 Jaguar XJ6 4.0 L6 GAS
Brake System Bleed
Bleeding the ABS system is not a routine maintenance operation and is only required when part of the system has been disconnected or the fluid is contaminated.
During the bleeding procedure, it is important that the level of fluid in the reservoir is maintained at approximately .0787 inch below the bottom of the filler neck. Motor/pump unit cannot charge accumulator if air and not fluid, is standing on low pressure side of pump.
If motor/pump unit, fluid intake hose or hydraulic unit of ABS system has been removed or disconnected, bleed as described under "Fluid In... "
