An important fact most car owners ignore is that the A/C system must be used periodically. Car manufacturers caution that when the air conditioner is not used regularly, particularly during cold months, it should be turned on for a few minutes once every two or three weeks while the engine is running. This keeps the system in good operating condition.
Checking out the system for the effects of disuse before the onset of summer is one of the most important asp...

Cooling Fans -> Passenger Cars Except Saturn -> 1993 FLEETWOOD -> COMPONENT REPLACEMENT -> COOLANT FAN, REPLACE -> DESCRIPTION -> Less Heavy Duty Cooling System -> SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS & TESTING -> With Heavy Duty Cooling System
Vehicle: 1992 Buick Century Custom 2.5 L4 GAS
DESCRIPTION
The primary and secondary coolant fans are turned on and off by the ECM based on inputs from A/C head pressure, engine coolant temperature, vehicle speed and A/C request signals.
The primary cooling fan is turned On when vehicle speed is below 35 mph, diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) 14 or 15 are present, coolant temperature is greater than 226°F or high A/C pressure is indicated.
The secondary cooling fan is controlled by the ECM through the engine coolant temperature sensor. The A/C cooling fan switch, on the A/C high pressure line, is grounded whe...

Cooling Fans -> Passenger Cars Except Saturn -> STORM -> COMPONENT REPLACEMENT -> Coolant Fan, Replace -> DESCRIPTION -> SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS & TESTING -> TROUBLESHOOTING
Vehicle: 1992 Buick Century Special 2.5 L4 GAS
DESCRIPTION
With the engine running, the generator applies voltage to the restart relay. The voltage passes through the closed contacts of the restart relay to the condenser fan relay and the radiator fan relay. The triple switch closes when the refrigerant pressure is above 214 psi. When the triple switch closes, the condenser fan and radiator fan relays energize.
The condenser fan receives battery voltage from fuse E-4 through the closed contacts of the condenser fan relay. The radiator fan receives battery voltage from fusible link FL-4 through the radiator fan relay.

Cooling Fans -> Passenger Cars Except Saturn -> PRIZM -> COMPONENT REPLACEMENT -> Coolant Fan, Replace -> DESCRIPTION -> SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS & TESTING -> TROUBLESHOOTING
Vehicle: 1992 Buick Century Custom 2.5 L4 GAS
DESCRIPTION
When the ignition switch is in either the RUN or START positions, system voltage is applied to the coils of the main engine relay and to fan relay 1. Because the main relay is grounded at G108, the relay is energized, its contacts close, and battery voltage is applied through the relay and the radiator fan fusible link to the contacts of fan relay 1.
When engine coolant temperature is below 194°F, the coolant fan temperature switch provides a ground for relay 1, the relay energizes and its contacts are pulled open.
Whenever engine coolant temperature reache...
