- Remove Woodruff key using suitable puller.

- Place ignition switch in Off position.
- Connect battery ground cable. Ensure no one is in vehicle passenger compartment when connecting battery ground cable.
- From a safe position to side of air bag modules, turn ignition switch to On position and note air bag warning lamp operation.
- On 1990-93 911 and 968 models, warning lamp should be illuminated for approximately five seconds after ignition switch has been placed in On position and then go Off.

- Remove ignition key. Mark relation of hood to hinges (paint or scribe mark) for hood installation alignment. Remove hood from vehicle.
- Remove right windshield wiper arm assembly.
- Remove blower cover at cowl. Remove cowl top finish panel outer mounting screws (left and right ends at fender).
- Remove two clamping screws at rubber connection between blower and A/C-heater unit. Do not attempt to detach A/C-heater end of rubber connection (permanently attached).
