DISC BRAKES, CHRYSLER CORP. -> Type 7-Single Piston Sliding Caliper, Jeep -> BRAKE PAD, Replace -> CJ-7, Cherokee, Comanche, Scrambler, Wagoneer & Wrangler -> Grand Wagoneer & J-Series Truck -> Grand Wagoner & J-Series Truck -> INSTALLATION -> REMOVAL

REMOVAL
Grand Wagoneer & J-Series Truck
- Unfasten caliper as previously described, leaving brake hose attached to caliper. Suspend caliper from suspension spring. Do not let caliper hang by hydraulic line.
- Remove inboard and outboard brake pads from caliper.
- Remove support spring from inboard pad, noting position of spring for assembly reference.
- Remove sleeves and rubber bushings from mounting bolt bores in caliper mounting ears.
- Clean mounting bolts, bolt core and bushing grooves in caliper mounting ears with suitable solvent. Do not use abrasives to clean or polish the mounting b...

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove access slot cover at rear of brake support plate.
- Rotate adjuster screw until wheel locks, then back off screw approximately one turn.
- Install access slot cover, then lower vehicle and check for proper brake operation.
- Drive vehicle in Reverse, making 10 to 15 firm brake applications with one forward stop between each reverse application to equalize adjustment.

The Anti-lock brake system will detect faults within the system, when a fault is detected one of two brake indicator lamps located on the instrument panel will illuminate and a fault code will be stored in the control unit memory.
