- On Impreza, SVX, 1990-94 Legacy models,fold down the rear seat back, then remove the floor mat and access hole lid.
- On 1995-00 Legacy models, remove the rear seat cushion and seat back, then the floor mat and access hole lid.
- On all models, disconnect the fuel pump relay electrical connector.
- Start the engine and operate until it stalls.
- After the engine has stalled, crank the engine for at least 5 seconds.
- Place the ignition switch in Off position.

- Using a drift and hammer, remove and discard DOJ spring pin, Fig. .
- Remove DOJ from transmission spindle.
- Remove driveshaft assembly. If necessary, use puller tool No. 926470000 or equivalent.
- Inspect all parts for wear, damage or corrosion and replace as necessary.
- Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
- Torque axle nut to 137 ft. lbs.
