Used Lower Control Arm (Suspensiondrive)

One needs a used lower control arm (front/rear) which suits one’s personal driving habits. There are a number of used lower control arms available which will make your task simple.

Used lower control arm (front/rear) with a solid, usually tubular design can be considered as a standard replacement. It will serve the average enthusiast driver well.

The “lift bar” type used lower control arm (front/rear) is also available which changes the rear end suspension geometry. This can effectively cause the rear tires to hit the ground harder. They are best suited for sticky street tires.

Another type of used lower control arm (front/rear) available is a hybrid of the two types – ‘tubular’ and ‘lift bar’. This hybrid can be considered to be the “cream “ amongst the three types. This hybrid design has better and unique features. It has an adjustable spring perch. With this design one can achieve the lowered look. And one need not purchase aftermarket lowering springs for the rear end. The grease fittings allow you to service the bushings without removing the arms.

To remove / install a lower control arm (front / rear) one needs to jack up the rear end of the car. Support both sides on jack stands and remove both rear tires. Then remove the sway bar, if there is one. Make sure to support the lower shock mount with a jack. This is important as it is the only thing holding the rear end and rear spring in place. Slowly lower the jack stand, and when there is enough slack, remove the spring.

From the axle mount remove the lower control arm bolt. Next remove the lower control arm bolt on the chassis side after getting the mufflers out of the way.

Install the bushings before installing the arm. Apply grease to all sides and the inside of the bushing. Make sure that grease is applied to the grooves, as well, which are cut into the bushing. Slide in the bushings by sandwiching a smaller bushing in between two larger bushings. After that, install the metal sleeve inside the bushings.

Install the arm on the chassis. Then bolt he lower control arm to the axle. Make sure that there is not even an inch between the mounting bracket and lower control arm (front / rear). Re-install the spring, making sure, that the end of the spring is facing to the rear of the car.

Numerous online locator services help you to search for used lower control arm (front / rear). The online locating services are free of cost and available 24X7. It helps you to avoid searching aimlessly and saves time and money as well.
