Probably one of the most popular SUVs to be associated with the Cadillac name is the Escalade. However, the Cadillac brand has another popular SUV under its name, and that is the Cadillac SRX Crossover. Of these two SUV types from Cadillac, the Escalade is the predecessor and the SRX came a few years after. The Cadillac Escalade started production in 1999 and has three generations of SUVs under the Escalade name. The first-generation Cadillac Escalade was a 5-door SUV that had a 4-speed automatic transmission and had a 5.7L v8 for an engine. The succeeding generations of this vehicle came with a few choices for consumers, and these included the 4-door pickup truck of the line called the Escalade EXT, which was released to the public in 2002. The third generation of the Escalade also has the SUV and the pickup truck variant available to consumers. In 2008, a new type of Escalade was released, and this is the Escalade Hybrid. All of the SUVs that are under the Cadillac Escalade name are considered to be part of the full-sized luxury SUV class.
The Cadillac SRX Crossover, on the other hand, is the brand’s contribution to the mid-sized crossover SUV class and was first released in 2004 to compete with the other vehicles in the same class. The first generation of this vehicle was produced from 2004 till 2009, and consumers had a choice between a 3.6L V6 engine and a 4.6L V8 for their SUV. The second generation of the Cadillac SRX Crossover recently came into production and features either a 2.8L turbo V6 or a 3.0 LF1 V8.
