Atmel Becomes Industry's First Supplier to Provide LIN2.1 Conformity for its Entire Automotive LIN Networking Product Range

By Atmel Corporation

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML) announced today that the company has received LIN2.1 certification for its LIN transceiver ATA6662 and LIN System Basis Chip ATA6624. The LIN2.1 physical layer test, which is the basis for LIN certification as defined by the LIN Consortium, was successfully carried out by the LIN-Consortium-certified test house C&S Group, Wolfenbuettel, Germany. Consequently, Atmel's entire LIN product range fully conforms to the worldwide LIN2.1 standard. LIN2.1 conformance enables design engineers to use Atmel's LIN products for all available LIN bus systems ranging from LIN 1.3 to LIN 2.0 and LIN 2.1. Designers can re-use existing hardware designs for new LIN 2.1 bus systems without modifications.

Atmel's extensive LIN product offering ranges from standard stand-alone LIN transceivers via highly integrated System Basis Chips (SBC) to complete System-in-Package (SiP) solutions that incorporate all components needed for a complete LIN node in a single package, including Atmel's award-winning AVR(R) microcontroller. Atmel continues to expand its LIN product offering.

All Atmel LIN solutions feature high integration and small QFN packages for space-saving designs, various current-saving modes for low current consumption, and outstanding EMC as well as ESD performance (ESD protection exceeding 6 kV).
