A new initiative to prevent motorcycle injuries and fatalities is making its debut at the Suzuki Superbike Doubleheader.

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- This weekend, along with motorcycle races and enthusiasts at the races in Elkhart Lake, motorcyclists will be able to experience the 5=Zero event tent.

"The event tent will have motorcycle safety related activities, contests and giveaways," said 5=Zero Campaign Manager and Blue Knight Jody Ward. "At certain times of day we will have an expert on hand to answer your motorcycle safety questions and a chance to win gift certificates and safety gear donated by Harley-Davidson."

The 5=Zero in Wisconsin campaign is a collaboration of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Blue Knights of Wisconsin XVIII. The campaign focuses on providing motorcyclists key information on reducing the risk associated with riding a motorcycle. The intent is to help drive motorcycle fatalities in Wisconsin to zero.

"This initiative focuses on 5 steps that all motorcyclists can take to stay safe," said Ward. "The idea is that by following these 5 steps, we can cut motorcycle related fatalities in Wisconsin down to zero."

The event tent will be present at major motorcycle events throughout the 2009 Wisconsin riding season.

"We want to do more than hand out brochures," said Ward. "We are giving motorcyclists the tools to minimize their risk and maximize their joy of riding."
