Stefan Jacoby, President & CEO of Volkswagen of America

NEW YORK, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Volkswagen's Stefan Jacoby will kick off the 2009 New York International Auto Show's two-day Press Preview with an opening press breakfast address. Jacoby is President & CEO of Volkswagen of America.

He is charged with restructuring the company's automotive business in the States in close coordination with the Group Board of Management. His objectives are to achieve further significant expansion in the position of Volkswagen and Audi on the US market through attractive and competitive products. Appointed by the Volkswagen Group Board of Management, Jacoby became President & CEO of Volkswagen of America, Inc. in September 2007, assuming the overall responsibility for the Group's automotive business in the USA.

Jacoby's tenure at VW is extensive.

Following a period in the USA and in the Commercial Vehicles business line, he was Head of Controlling in Japan from 1990 to 1992, subsequently assuming responsibility for Volkswagen export operations worldwide. He was responsible for the Asia-Pacific Region from 1997 to 2001. After that, he was Executive Vice President for global Marketing and Sales, Volkswagen Group in 2004.

In addition to his role at Volkswagen, Jacoby serves as 2009 Chairman of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. In that position, he initiates and continues consensus-oriented dialogue between industry, federal and state governments, and other stakeholders to address shared objectives, both domestically and abroad.

Jacoby's keynote address will take place at the Javits Center's Special Events Hall on Wednesday, April 8 during the Show's Opening Press Breakfast. The New York International Auto Show event is co-hosted by the International Motor Press Association. Credentials required.
