The team's mission was to create a harmonized industry process to more effectively and efficiently implement the countless engineering changes executed annually by OEMs and suppliers of all sizes. The Engineering Change Management Committee, by design, kept in-scope the change requirements of industries beyond automotive. Thus, the simple, generic, and inclusive nature of these recommendations will now allow, with industry specific modifications, cross industry implementation.

Adoption of the EMC Recommendations will reduce the cost of engineering changes, which account for an annual industry-wide spend, in excess of $10 billion.
