Fiesta Movement Gains Momentum with Arrival of 100 Fiestas on U.S. Shores

One hundred Ford Fiestas are arriving at ports in Baltimore and Oxnard, Calif., bringing U.S. consumers one step closer to experiencing Ford Motor Company's (NYSE: F) anticipated small global vehicle as a part of the "Fiesta Movement." Through the program, 100 young trendsetters will be chosen as "agents" to drive the Fiestas for six months and relate their experiences through social media sites such as Facebook, Flickr and YouTube. Fiesta is a hit in Europe and Asian markets, where it's already the second-best selling vehicle of any make across Ford's 19 major European markets. The newest technology trend in hybrid electric vehicles, Ford's SmartGauge(TM) with EcoGuide digital instrument cluster, came to life through non-traditional partner collaborations and consumer input. Using instantaneous power and fuel consumption data to coach owners to drive more fuel efficiently, SmartGauge's innovative technology was made possible through development work with companies that are world leaders in helping consumers connect with technology. Ford Looks Back at Transformational Point in Mustang History: 1974 to 1982

Ford is taking a look back at the iconic Mustang as the company, along with the Mustang Club of America celebrates the 45th anniversary of the car on April 17, 2009. The period of 1974 to 1982 included two major transformations for the vehicle. The first was in 1974 with the Mustang II fuel-efficient pony car, which brought back traditional Mustang design cues and retained classic traits like the running horse in the grille. A strong seller for Ford, it sold 386,000 vehicles in the first model year and was named Motor Trend "Car of the Year." The third major transformation came in 1979 with the introduction of a sleek, European-inspired pony car - a fresh statement for Mustang with a slant-back front end and four inch-longer body length and wheelbase. more...
