Wayne County Community College District to Host Motorcycle Safety Workshop

WCCCD partners with American Bikers Aiming Toward Education (ABATE) to teach safety techniques for motorcycle riders

Event will feature demonstrations on how to safely maneuver motorcycles

DETROIT, March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wayne County Community College District's (WCCCD) Continuing Education Division is teaming up with the American Bikers Aiming Toward Education (ABATE) to promote responsible motorcycling during the Motorcycle Safety Awareness Seminar.

This event will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the WCCCD Downriver Campus, 21000 Northline Road in Taylor. The event is open to the public at no charge.

This workshop will provide awareness to improve motorcyclist safety on streets and highways. Participants will be provided with skillful demonstrations on how to safely maneuver motorcycles.

Vince Consiglio, president of the Michigan chapter of ABATE and site coordinator for the State of Michigan's motorcycle program, will present safety strategies during the seminar. He has been a member of ABATE since 1995, and has taught motorcycle safety to more than 50,000 students about to receive their motorcycle licenses. Consiglio has more than 30 years of motorcycle riding and instruction, and has received numerous awards and recognition related to his commitment to safe riding.

WCCCD is committed to the continued development of new programs, hosting more community-based training sessions, improving student facilities and services, upgrading technologies, making capital investments in massive building expansion projects, training staff members to enhance their skills to maximize efficiency.
