Tier One sees opportunities despite market conditions

GENEVA, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Two leading automotive trim suppliers have come together to create SRG Global, Inc., a global megabrand unrivaled in product breadth and global reach. The announcement was made today at the Geneva International Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland.

The new, privately held company has a manufacturing presence in major world markets including North America, Europe and Asia, and is headquartered near Detroit in Warren, Michigan. It is one of the largest manufacturers of chrome plated plastic parts for the automotive industry in the world.

SRG Global, a Guardian Company, comprises the trim operations of Guardian Automotive and Siegel-Robert Automotive, an evolution that began when Guardian acquired Siegel-Robert Automotive. Guardian Automotive's European trim operation, formerly known as Lab Radio, is also part of SRG Global.

The new company provides high value coatings on plastics and offers customers more than 100 years of combined experience in the automotive business.

"We've combined the capabilities, strengths, core competencies and reputation of both entities, and created a global automotive supplier," said Kevin Baird, president and CEO of SRG Global, Inc.

The new company employs about 4,000 people globally, with some 3,100 employees in six US manufacturing plants and technical centers. Other facilities are located in China and Western Europe. About 100 employees are located at the company's headquarters in Warren, Mich., where the company expects growth in the areas of design and engineering. The company expects to bring new facilities on line in Central Europe and Mexico.

SRG Global products -- front end/rear end systems; greenhouse systems; body side systems; and some interior systems -- are found on the products of virtually every auto manufacturer in the world.

"While SRG Global is an independent entity, it has the backing of Guardian's strengths, including its Science and Technology Center in Carleton, Michigan," said Jim Davis, president of Guardian Automotive, a subsidiary of Guardian Industries Corp. "Our intention is that SRG Global will be a technology leader and the supplier of the future."
