VIDEO from Medialink and General Motors: A Bright Idea

NEW YORK, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- While the exterior of the car almost always gets the most attention, car designers will tell you that the interior is just as, if not more, important.

See video from General Motors (NYSE: GM) at:

That's why many new high-style cars are featuring light emitting-diodes (LEDs) -- frequently found in the taillights, daytime running lights and turn signals -- as part of the interior. With its subtle ice blue ambient lighting, the Buick LaCrosse is just one example that was introduced at the Detroit Auto Show.

Compared to traditional lighting, LEDs are more flexible and can go in places other than the ceiling of your car. They can improve visibility by illuminating previously harder to light areas, like foot wells and door handles, without distracting the driver.
