Valet Girls Parking Rolls Fees Back a Decade to 1999

Forced by the recession the first all female parking company in the Country founded in 1983 now charges the same fees to customers as they did 10 years ago

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- A wide variety of A-list celebrities' guests' cars have been parked by Valet Girls, the first all female parking company in the Country established in Malibu, CA in 1983. Since that time Valet Girls has grown to service almost 300 events each year and employs almost 100 people.

In 2006, the company Co-President told NBC's "Today Show" he expected to grow the company to 40 locations and sales of $14 million dollars by 2014. "That growth plan for Valet Girls was put on a sudden stop by the recent recession," said Co-President Nancy Saltzman. "Even the rich and famous in Beverly Hills are shopping around for the best price when it comes to valet parking for their parties. Never before did we compete for events based solely on price but that changed this year."

Valet Girls Parking which once dominated the Hollywood elite party scene with an hourly rate of $32 per Valet Girl per hour has lowered the hourly rate to $26.00 per hour, the same fee they charged customers in 1999. "We had to slash rates almost 25% to stay competitive this year. Famous celebrities, CEOs and the rich and famous are getting 3 and 4 quotes for parking where before they would simply call and book us," said Saltzman.

In January the company which employed almost 100 people laid off their Controller, full time Payroll Administrator and Office Coordinator leaving only the Director of Human Resources and Receptionist at their Los Angeles offices. The number of Valet Girls has also been cut by 50% since January. The company recently provided the valet service at a 600 person post Oscars event attended by A-list celebrities, but at a 25% discount.

"It is the sign of the times, or at least the next few years for us. We came to terms that the recession and Bernie Madoff have affected our multi-millionaire clients and we needed to make drastic cuts in expenses and reduce our rates to stay in business. Since we lowered our fees to that of 1999 we have seen a spike in business but I don't ever think we will be back to the rate we charged prior to the recession anytime soon," said Saltzman.
