Both Jackson and Pickens have been highly vocal in support of new approaches to energy consumption. Pickens has been involved with the oil industry throughout his career yet has recently taken a very public position arguing that petroleum stores will soon begin to decline. He argues that it is essential to develop replacements immediately, particularly renewable resources such as wind and solar power.
Jackson has been equally fervent in his advocacy of a reformed energy policy. He supports the consideration of a gas tax to generate revenue for innovation while reducing the number of miles driven, he champions flex fuels and he is a leading voice for the development of cleaner, more efficient vehicles, notably plug-in hybrids.
