NxtGen has developed innovative technology that makes existing and new internal combustion engines cleaner and more efficient to meet global emission regulations and CO2 targets. NxtGen has successfully miniaturized syngas production equipment for use in light- and heavy-duty vehicles. "Syngas" is a hydrogen-rich gas that NxtGen produces from diesel fuel and air. It provides a platform for advanced emission reduction and combustion technologies for multiple fuels, including diesel, biodiesel, natural gas and gasoline. NxtGen's first product, a retrofit syngas diesel particulate filter (DPF) system, is targeted at intra-city diesel vehicles: DPF regeneration can be initiated at the very low temperature of 200 C and sustained in stop / start city traffic, which solves a key industry problem.
NxtGen's second retrofit product will reduce NOx emissions by 70 percent for low temperature intra-city diesel vehicles and avoids the cost and complexity of urea-SCR technology. NxtGen is also developing systems for original equipment manufacturers that will achieve particulate and NOx emission reductions greater than 80 percent.
