Mint Helps New Yorkers Stay Afloat by Providing On-Demand Cars for the Same Price as a Cup of Coffee, Subway Ride or Slice of Pizza

NEW YORK, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- With the economy in crisis, New Yorkers are finding it hard to spring for that extra something. So, Mint (www.drivemint.com), a new, innovative, locally operated on-demand car rental company is ready to give back to the community by saving them some cold, hard cash.

From now through June 1, 2009, Mint will be offering their entire fleet of economy cars for only $2.00 an hour, Monday-Thursday from 8am-5pm. Potential members can sign up online, pay the one-time $25 application fee and be in a car in less than 48 hours. In addition, members will also receive discounted parking rates at select parking garages in Manhattan.

Mint will also waive the $25 yearly application fee for drivers currently utilizing other on-demand rental car and car-share companies who want to add Mint as an additional mobility resource. All they have to do is come down to the Mint office and show their access card. Other unique Mint programs include "Operation Mint", a co-branded partnership program that will assist non-profits in their fundraising efforts by donating $10.00 back to the organization for every new member they refer.

With a diverse fleet of fuel efficient vehicles including the Smart Car, Toyota Yaris, Honda FIT, Nissan Versa and more, Mint members won't worry about car payments, insurance, maintenance, parking or gas -- it is ALL included. In addition, Mint's fleet also boasts a selection of utility vehicles, the luxurious Mercedes C300 and is the only on-demand car company offering the Smart Car in New York. Each vehicle is equipped with state of the art amenities such as Bluetooth, on board customer service, E-ZPass, universal fuel card and more.

Consumers and businesses join Mint by applying online and paying a $25.00 application fee. Once the potential member has been approved, they are issued a smart access card and can begin making reservations on the vehicle of their choice. Reservations are easy to book via an online interface that displays which vehicles are available for the requested period of use. Once a reservation is confirmed, the member can simply hold their smart card over a card reader that grants them access to the vehicle.

Mint was founded by Richard Ull, of Car Park Systems which currently operates 50 parking garages in the Metropolitan area. Ull says, "We are a local company that cares about New York. We live here; we work here and know exactly how to give New Yorkers what they're looking for: cheap rates, unparalleled customer service and a great experience. We have big plans in the near future to expand throughout New York's five boroughs."
