NAVTEQ unveils latest product developments including NAVTEQ LocationPoint Advertising and Dynamic POI Content

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- NAVTEQ, a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, is showcasing a broad scope of cutting-edge mapping solutions and devices at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas (booth #36226, South Hall). The booth features two distinct demonstration areas: NAVTEQ product and services and an impressive "device wall" featuring a wide range of brand name devices and navigation systems powered by NAVTEQ data. A highlight of the booth will be the unveiling of two significant NAVTEQ product offerings: NAVTEQ LocationPoint Advertising and dynamic POI content.

-- NAVTEQ LocationPoint Advertising: A new mobile location-based advertising service that offers location aware applications and devices a turnkey approach for subsidizing high value content services. The service enables advertisers to reach and engage consumers where and when they are making shopping and purchasing decisions. Additionally, advertisers are able to proactively promote their locations with interactive targeting of consumers in the vicinity of their storefronts. -- Point of Interest (POI) Content: 2009 CES will mark the first time NAVTEQ demonstrates three integral offerings of its dynamic POI content portfolio: Air Travel Status, Event Listings and Fuel Prices. NAVTEQ dynamic POI content -- launching first in the U.S., with expansion to Europe thereafter -- brings the map to life with robust, relevant and real-time information that lends itself to quick and flexible integration into location- aware navigation applications.

Additionally, an in-booth demonstration will feature rich POI content, which provides travel, leisure and lifestyle content from well-known, high quality brands. In fact, at CES, NAVTEQ will discuss significant additions to its rich POI content portfolio from Travel Channel and Yelp.

As with all POI content products from NAVTEQ, content from these new products is precisely geocoded and matched to Core POI on the NAVTEQ map wherever possible; these steps reduce customer costs and speed content integration.

Other NAVTEQ product and services demonstrations include:

-- Fuel Efficiency: A kiosk featuring Magneti Marrelli will provide visitors with greater insight into the "green" movement by showcasing fuel efficiency through green routing and eco-driving utilizing digital map data.

-- NAVTEQ Discover Cities(TM): A demonstration application from NAVITIME will highlight NAVTEQ's integrated package of pedestrian-centric content that enables people to orient themselves and navigate efficiently by foot and via public transit systems.

-- NAVTEQ Traffic(TM): An overview will be given of the offerings in the NAVTEQ Traffic portfolio including a comprehensive array of proprietary data sources: probe, sensor, historical and combined incident and flow information. Together, these sources create a complete and high quality traffic solution. The data bundle also includes the NAVTEQ Smart Traffic Processor(TM), a unique traffic processing and quality control mechanism. Additionally, well-known consumer companies will provide in-booth demonstrations of NAVTEQ Traffic.

-- NAVTEQ Content Store: NAVTEQ's complete online store allows customers to give end-users the ability to download both static and dynamic location content (traffic, rich POI data, location advertising and new data) from both NAVTEQ and third party providers. This fully customizable service delivers content at the right place and time -- whether it's over the air or via download onto a device.

-- NAVTEQ Location Portal Solution: This white-label geospatial web portal solution offers a total user experience by incorporating route planning, interactive and expedient mapping, content integration and search capabilities. Access is provided to various forms of rich and dynamic NAVTEQ content through a web interface and has the ability to integrate with connected mobile devices.

-- NAV2: An in-depth demonstration of mapping data and coverage of China from NAVTEQ's joint-venture partner NAV2, a leading provider of mapping data in that region.

-- NAVTEQ.com: CES attendees are also invited to explore the newly updated NAVTEQ.com website which showcases robust maps, real-time traffic and location content.

NAVTEQ also has a "Device Wall" where attendees can experience an impressive line-up of over two dozen location-enabled consumer electronics and applications that feature NAVTEQ solutions. Products from leading consumer electronics brands will be represented.

"NAVTEQ is pleased to be a part of 2009 CES to showcase the expansion of NAVTEQ content and solutions," said Jeff Mize, executive vice president, sales, NAVTEQ. "NAVTEQ's high-quality, innovative offerings, such as dynamic POI content and LocationPoint Advertising, help optimize the navigation experience and provide our customers with a distinct competitive advantage."
