- 'Changing Cities' Exhibition Exchanges Artists and Art Between Detroit and Berlin
- Local Artists Gain International Exposure and Perspectives
- Berlin Galerie Eva Bracke Hosts Detroit Artists
- Daimler Financial Services Builds on Current Art Program with Cranbrook Academy of Art
PONTIAC, Mich., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Museum of New Art (MONA) and
Daimler Financial Services (DFS) announced today a new partnership which
facilitates a global dialogue between artists, while promoting art exchanges
between the hip and urban cultures of Detroit and Berlin. The purpose of this
first exhibition titled "Changing Cities" is to expose local artists to
international impressions and international audiences. The exposure and the
experience will help artists create a global network and expand the audience
reach.
Jef Bourgeau, Director of the MONA said, "This new partnership with
Daimler Financial Services is a unique opportunity to bridge a gap between two
cities where the company has a presence and the art scenes are so vibrant.
We're excited about the possibilities of how we can further expand the
changing cities concept."
Daimler Financial Services is no stranger to supporting the arts. When the
company moved into a new facility in Farmington Hills, Mich., which serves as
the Americas headquarters for the division, it formed a relationship with
Cranbrook Academy of Art. This relationship, unique in the corporate setting,
provides Cranbrook Academy of Art students the opportunity to exhibit their
art for a year in the headquarters. In addition, the cutting-edge art
facilitates dialogue and innovation among employees.
"When we heard about connecting the two cities through art, it was a
perfect expansion of our current support and will enable our employees in both
locations to gain a deeper understanding of what's happening in each city,"
stated Klaus Entenmann, President and CEO Daimler Financial Services Americas.
The current exhibition of Berlin artists can be seen at the MONA until
August 9th. The Detroit artists will be traveling to Berlin for a November
29th opening at Galerie Eva Bracke, and their exhibition will be on display
until January 4, 2009.
The MONA is located at 7 N. Saginaw Street, Pontiac, Mich. For more

About the Museum of New Art (MONA)
Since 1997, the Museum of New Art (MONA) has served as Detroit's
contemporary art museum. Defining itself as a museum for the 21st Century,
MONA marks a distinct, unsubtle shift in emphasis from a simple exhibition
space to a more direct connection between artist and audience. It is, in fact,
a museum, which draws its life force, not so much from passive exhibits, but
by a forced involvement between artist and public. With the fervent awareness
that the history of new art is immediate and, thus, has yet to be written,
MONA allows artists to present their work without boundaries and its audience
the possibility of drawing its own contexts and conclusions.
