TROY, Mich., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Schaeffler South Africa has been honored with the 2007 "Supplier of the Year" award in the Powertrain category by General Motors Corp. South Africa at the annual GM South Africa supplier awards function recently held in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This is the 12th year that Schaeffler South Africa has received an award from GM South Africa.

With the GM South Africa award, Schaeffler South Africa has received three prestigious supplier awards for 2007. The company was recently named "Powertrain Commodity Supplier of the Year" by Volkswagen South Africa and also received a Top 20 Supplier Award from Ford Motor Co. of South Africa.

Schaeffler South Africa supplies clutches and driveshaft components to the GM plant in Port Elizabeth.
