NEW YORK, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Patrick E. Quinn, Co-Chairman and President, U.S. Xpress Enterprises Inc., will provide the keynote address to an expected audience of 500 attendees at the upcoming Faster Freight - Cleaner Air (FFCA) East Coast conference in New York City. U.S. Xpress Enterprises is the fifth largest publicly owned trucking company in the United States and was recently recognized by the Smithsonian Institute for its leadership on service, safety and technological innovation. FFCA East Coast will highlight green technologies and strategies for the goods movement industry that improve efficiency, reduce the impact of soaring energy costs and reduce the environmental footprint of freight movement. This premiere summit will take place July 8-10, 2008, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, NY.

Mr. Quinn will address the critical need for a sound national goods movement strategy that focuses on long-term economic and environmental sustainability. In addition to his role as the co-founder and president of one of the nation's largest and most successful trucking companies, Patrick Quinn is a Congressional appointee to the bipartisan 12-member National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission. In this capacity, Mr. Quinn played a leading role in developing and recently launching the Transportation for Tomorrow report (http://www.transportationfortomorrow.org), a comprehensive plan highlighting how and why an efficient surface transportation system is vital to the future economic growth, international competitiveness and social well-being of the nation. The report concludes with a ten-point plan aimed at revamping the federal surface transportation programs that would lead to moving freight cleaner, faster and safer.

Faster Freight - Cleaner Air (FFCA) is the premier conference series in North America showcasing solutions and resources that improve operations and reduce air emissions and the carbon footprint of the goods movement industry. With the Panama Canal expansion project now underway, FFCA East Coast will focus upon the growing demands for an improved national infrastructure and expanded rail and trucking services to accommodate the near-term port growth that will be fueled by the expanded allwater route from Asia. This event is hosted by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, United States Environmental Protection Agency, New York City Department of Transportation, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New York State Department of Transportation, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

Mr. Quinn's timely remarks are scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, 2008. The three-day conference runs from July 8 through July 10 and will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City. This summit will include two-days of plenary sessions; breakout sessions focusing on on-road trucking, marine, rail and cargo handling operations; a technology tradeshow; and exciting off- site tours of the region's largest cargo facilities in New York and New Jersey.
