DALLAS, June 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) announced the winners of its 6th annual MADD Media Awards program today and Florida media should be especially proud. WFOR-TV in Miami won the Award of Excellence for Broadcast with their series covering alcohol-laced energy drinks. The Pensacola News Journal earned MADD's top honor for print journalism with their series on drunk driving and its deadly consequences. This is the first time the prestigious Awards of Excellence have both been won by local media outlets.

"MADD's Media Awards program honors the media for the crucial role they play in furthering MADD's lifesaving mission," said Glynn Birch, MADD national president. "These two outstanding pieces truly show the impact that interlocks can have on eliminating drunk driving and how marketing and sales of indistinctly-labeled alcoholic energy drinks are harming people under 21 by combining caffeine and alcohol in high doses."
