PACCAR Parts Incentives on Fuel-Saving Idle-Reduction Truck Technologies Help Peterbilt Truck Owners and Operators Combat Increasing Fuel Costs

Webasto-manufactured CARB-approved technologies for Peterbilt trucks save up to $9000 annually per truck

FENTON, Mich., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- PACCAR Parts announced a program to incentivize the sale of its idle reduction, engine-off cooling and heating technology provided by leading automotive and truck supplier Webasto. During the months of May and June, PACCAR Parts will be offering the Webasto BlueCool Truck (BCT) CARB-approved bunk cooler for sale at a significantly reduced cost to their North American Peterbilt Dealerships. In addition, PACCAR is providing a discount and volume incentive for a Webasto heater. This combination of a BCT and a Webasto Fuel Operated Heater (FOH) will allow the truck's bunk to be warmed and/or cooled year round with no need for the truck engine to be idled and for truck owners and operators to offset rising fuel costs.

BCT is an innovative and revolutionary energy storage device that harnesses the energy of the truck when it's in motion and stores it in a patented storage core. After the driver turns the truck's engine off and is ready for a comfortable rest period, he uses the BCT air handler to direct the desired amount of cool air into his bunk. In this discharge mode, the BCT system uses absolutely no fuel and produces no emissions.

Both BCT and FOH, in addition to being extremely environmentally friendly, offer remarkable fuel savings. For instance, BCT is not an electrical system, requires no additional batteries and consumes five times less fuel overall than an auxiliary power unit (APU). FOH provides engine-off savings of approximately 19 gallons of fuel over a 20 hour period and pays for itself in only a few months of use.

The result is significant fuel savings for owner operators and fleet managers alike. For example, at the current cost of fuel a fleet or an owner operator can realize almost $750.00 per month per truck in fuel savings, equating to $9,000 per year. With the PACCAR pricing incentives, the technology can pay for itself in less than six months making PACCAR the market leader in providing a fuel-saving and environmentally responsible year-round solution.

"Webasto BlueCool Truck and Fuel Operated Heater are the cleanest, most fuel efficient technologies available today and provide a driver with economical and ecological one-two punch," said John Thomas, Vice President of Marketing at Webasto Product North America. "The PACCAR offer makes it even more attractive for Kenworth and Peterbilt truck owners and operators to beat the fuel crunch."
